Condition Monitoring

Condition monitoring is about having the correct information readably available to facilitate an understanding of the operational health of the gas turbine and the auxiliary systems. Having this information will provide early warning to potential problems and help to plan preventive maintenance.

Deployment of one or more intelligent systems for condition monitoring will result in fewer unscheduled outages, higher availability and lower overall costs.

VBR Turbine Partners has in-depth knowledge of gas turbine operations and the impact of various key parameters on wear and efficiency. Focusing on maintenance we can analyse inspection results and data gathered from the monitoring systems of the gas turbines and its subsystems. Using this information VBR are able to predict accurately when problems will occur.

DECIDE remote maintenance support

With our unique DECIDE Remote Maintenance Support we are able to monitor and analyse key parameters (e.g. start up behaviour, performance, pressures, temperatures, vibrations, atmospheric contamination, lube oil debris) and disruptions of the gas turbine.

With DECIDE we immediately detect changes in engine behaviour, which enables to intervention before a failure occurs. This will minimise repair costs preventing extended unnecessary downtime and supports services. It will also contribute to extended service Intervals & Life extension of a gas turbine.

The use of DECIDE permits a shift from time based maintenance to condition based maintenance leading to more efficient maintenance interventions and calculated extentions of the OEM prescribed maintenance service intervals.

GasTOPS MetalSCAN and DECIDE

A proven example of smart condition monitoring is the use of GasTOPS MetalSCAN for very early detection of bearing deterioration and damage.
